Charles Hardaker RBA NEACShow: Profile | Artworks

Charles studied at Birmingham College of Arts & Crafts, served in the Royal Artillery for National Service then studied for three years at the Royal College of Art in London (Queen's Scholar) ARCA 1958.

He became a member of the New English Art Club in 1969 and of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1984. He now paints mostly still lives, interiors and portraits. He has also undertaken philosophical / scriptural commissions.

He has work in the permanent collection of the Tate Gallery, the Guildhall of London, the then GLC, the National Library of Wales, the Institute of Civil Engineers and numerous private collections in the UK and overseas, including the USA, Canada, Japan and Greece.

Major commissions include paintings for BP, Northumbria Water, Eurotunnel, Townley Hall Ireland and murals in Waterperry House near Oxford.

He has had five one-man shows to date, two in San Francisco and three in London.

He has exhibited in the Hunting Prizes three times and in the Threadneedle Figurative Prize, 2008.

He has completed numerous portrait commissions.

He has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and with the New English Art Club, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Small Paintings Group and various other galleries throughout the UK.
