Dennis trained at St Martin’s School of art in London’s Charing Cross Road (1946 - 1949) and Brighton College or Art (1949 - 1950). He lectured at Hammersmith School of Art (1950 - 1975), and was senior lecturer at Chelsea School of Art from 1975 to 1986. Since 1986 he has been a full-time painter.
